Speaker 2:

Uh, Cloud Guy don't feel so good.

Speaker 3:

you had a secret brother. Correction used to be my brother. My brother's locked out on me and never came back.

Speaker 8:

Speaker 2:

Branch. It's time we find the rest of our brothers and get the band back together.

Speaker 4:

Brozone, we're gonna have the best family reunion ever. Brozone, two point up. Brozone reunion. Brozone. Here we bro again Brozone. Where'd they bro? I don't know. We're gonna find them. Speaker 5:

Oh, hey, tiny, you see that button right there. Oh, you mean the button that's taking every five of my B and not the press. Press it oh.

Speaker 4:

Too much hustle is a thing. Huh, look at that.

Speaker 8:

You're gonna make boy band history tonight, Bro. You're making baby Branch nervous.

Speaker 9:

I felt like I'm gonna barf and pass out and Peer pants all at once. How'd you know, Kick it out For Brozone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5:

Speaker 4:

What, oh hey, are you alright? You're smiling and crying at the same time. It kind of looks like it's hurting your face.

Speaker 3:

It does hurt my face.

Speaker 2:

Oh, baby Branch, I'm John Doary Branch's brother.

Speaker 3:

What Ow Former brother.

Speaker 5:

Come on me, dingo.

Speaker 4:

It's hard to say I'm suffering. A brother is a friend who can never leave you. It's the strongest bond in the world. I would kill to have a sibling to sing with. Check out your old outfits Puffy jacket, pukashell necklace Is dead on a taxi. Did you have frosted tips? Ah, look at you. You were so cute, I love it.

Speaker 3:

It was an era.

Speaker 2:

Tragic Branch.

Speaker 8:

our brother is being held captive in a diamond prison, there's only one thing that's powerful enough to shatter diamond the perfect family harmony.

Speaker 2:

Should we be letting a baby?

Speaker 5:

drive. I have procured my learner's permit. Who has a dulty McMahon face? The better question is are you a nark who calls there? We're here looking for our brother. Oh my gosh, hello.

Speaker 10:

My name is Vila. It is so fantastic to see other churros. Did you just braid my hair? You're welcome, it looks so good, I love it.

Speaker 4:

Is your dad King Peppy Uh?

Speaker 10:

yeah.

Speaker 4:

Poppy.

Speaker 10:

I'm your sister. My what Whoa?

Speaker 5:

Hey man, I'm not the only one, without a lot of love. This is your second chance with your brother's branch. Baby, baby, maybe a smaller diaper.

Speaker 2:

If this diaper was any smaller, I could taste it. I know you think it's risky, and maybe it is, but it'll be worth it.

Speaker 4:

It was always worth it. You're all I ever wanted. Can't believe this is really happening. You're all.

Speaker 3:

I ever needed. Yeah, so tell me what to do. We still got it. Looks like your band days are coming up.

Speaker 4:

I'm gonna be a big fan of yours. We still got it. Looks like your band days aren't behind you. Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. Just let me take you to my better place.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna make it get us through the sky at night. Yeah, okay, I misspoke right there. That was actually two trailers. When they sent me the press kit there was a couple trailers man, the bulls are good but they both say different things but they also, in between, they share a couple of same scenes or same dialogue, so on and so forth, and sometimes I'm like, well, I'll pick this one, I'll pick that one. But they were kind of different enough that they could be played back to back and give you a more thorough explanation of what the movie's about. So that's why that one went a little bit long.

Speaker 1:

But up next we have a feature ed, and let me explain what these feature eds are the studios. They send me these pre-edited mini commercials that talk about the film or parts of the film. This one's just generally an overview about the cast, everybody coming back storyline, and during this feature ed they have little clips of the actors talking, showing scenes from them and on the set or I should say in the studio shots of them next to their character Later on in the show. If you care to watch the TV version of this, I will send that to or I'll tell you what it is so that you can watch it, because sometimes watching it makes you feel a bit more engaged.

Speaker 1:

But in the meantime that's what feature ed is You're going to hear a bunch of the cast members talking about the movie and then you'll hear scenes talking and all that. And just to point out, later on at the end of this show, I'm going to play a lot of the in the studio stuff. Some people don't care about that. I love that kind of stuff. It's just like on the set, but they show them in the studio doing their lines over and over again and I get the wild kick out of that. So, if you like that kind of thing, that's coming up later. But meantime, here's that feature ed let's do this.

Speaker 4:

Right now we're in the studio for some Trolls 3. This is so fun. Whenever we get the gang back together, you can just feel how much fun everybody has. You're so it. I mean I get to plan my best friend's wedding. It's my wedding. There's a lot going on, Come on, guys.

Speaker 2:

It's time we are gathered here today to stop the wedding On Branch's long lost brother.

Speaker 4:

What? You're the guys from a bro zone. We were just listening to them, baby.

Speaker 2:

Brunch. It's time we find the rest of our brothers and get the band back together, bro Zah.

Speaker 3:

Operation Family Harmony is on and popping.

Speaker 5:

I can't believe this is really happening. It's a wild ride. The story has so many different twists and turns. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 10:

hello, my name is Viva Poppy. I'm your sister.

Speaker 4:

Poppy loves family, so the idea of having a long lost sister is super exciting. Did you just braid my hair? You're welcome. It looks so good, I love it.

Speaker 10:

Viva has a lot of energy, hog time and vitality inside. I'm having a lot. Sometimes I can be a lot, you're.

Speaker 8:

Poppy's sister, oh wow.

Speaker 4:

It's just like such an embarrassment of riches when it comes to the cast.

Speaker 5:

Oh, this is too much.

Speaker 4:

Troll's band together has more fun, more action, more music.

Speaker 5:

There's no better way to experience this movie than on a big screen. C'mon me Dinkle. Bye everybody. We're putting the band back together.

Speaker 10:

I want you back Milk Shakes to celebrate.

Speaker 4:

Is this how people feel when they meet me?

Speaker 3:

Yes, he was ready for a reunion. Oh, here we go now you all up in your fields right now it's headland.

Speaker 8:

I can't believe this is really happening.

Speaker 3:

We would do this song as the crew in the movie, but everybody would be animated characters. I don't get it. What you didn't think Brozone was the only band I've ever been in, did you?

Speaker 1:

Now, that last part of that featurette was technically a number two featurette. It's a little bit shorter than the first one, but that one pretty much focused primarily on in the studio singing with Justin Timberlake and the band working on the songs. It's just kind of fun to see them working together and seeing how that magic works. Now, coming up first, we're going to hear from the director, walt Dorn. He's going to talk about the qualities of a family singing together compared to just friends or whatever. He lists off a ton of bands that he was inspired by because if you really break it down through history there's been so many family bands and he lists off some of them. It's just kind of fun to realize oh yeah, you're right, a lot of times if you're in the same family, you have the same vocal range or tendencies and just general feel that you can just kind of read each other's minds and roll with it. And he talks about that and how important that was in this film. And then we're going to hear from the producer, gina Shea, and she's going to talk about in this movie there's so much family but also a lot of new people that they're going to have in this film and she lists them off. And when she lists them off you're like wow, this is just incredible, the people that she names off. You're like yep, yep, they're talented, they're funny.

Speaker 1:

But, like she explains, you have to be able to sing, not just be funny and deliver the dialogue. You got to sing and that's not that kind of limits the cast that you could possibly get, because just because you're funny doesn't mean you could sing. You can sing jokingly, but you're not going to be able to sing enjoyably. So there's a big difference. So when she talks about these cast members, you realize how truly talented they are and she talks about just generally. You know there's a lot of singing in this movie. So after that we're going to have a clip for you and in this clip it's technically the opening scene to this film. So in the beginning you're gonna see these two characters kind of floating around in the land down in the city street. There's buildings on both sides of them and they're cruising down introducing all these other characters in the whole town and it's just really fun to get that initial introduction of everybody and the songs playing and it's just full of colors and light and just great energy. So that's what's coming up next.

Speaker 6:

The perfect family harmony is something pretty special. When we started talking about you know, music is huge. In the Trolls movies, even in the last film, music was kind of used as a weapon. So we said, like the power of music and this idea of the perfect family harmony came up because of the history of the kind of blood harmony in family bands, you know, from the Beach Boys to Bee Gees, the Jacksons, even up to Phineas and Billie Eilish. There's something special about the vocal blend between families who sing together. So we thought, well, that would be perfect for Branch and his brothers. They have this perfect family harmony they strive to create and if they can create it, it has the power to shatter diamonds.

Speaker 9:

Anna and Justin's relationship is at the core of this film, but we wouldn't have a story without bringing in the new family members and these amazing villains. So we have Eric Andre, kid Cudi, davi Diggs, we have Troy Sivan, we have Amy Schumer and Andrew Rannels I mean, come on, and they're all musical, our cast, for the most part they're singing and they have to be great actors, comedians, and they need to be able to sing, because most of our songs are ensemble and each of their voices lends a different dimension to these songs.

Speaker 10:

This is how my sister's with me.

Speaker 2:

Oh boy, that was a crazy bachelor party. Cloud guy don't feel so good. Oh, look at that.

Speaker 6:

Oh, look at that, you could say that again.

Speaker 4:

Oh, it's me. He's looking for yeah, it is. Now let's get this dress right. Uh no, uh-uh no.

Speaker 3:

Next Satin chenille fashion emergency.

Speaker 7:

Look at you, tiny diamond, you make the cutest little flower boy.

Speaker 5:

Come on, daddy. I'm not a baby anymore. I'm the cutest little flower man, but tiny. You're only a month old. Get up. Everybody treats me like I'm just a little baby. But I'm walking and I'm talking on the dates. I'm rolling dice, drinking coffee, getting wild. Daddy, I'm a man now, not a little child.

Speaker 3:

Come on, guys it's time we are family. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got all my sisters with me. We are family.

Speaker 2:

Get up everybody to say we are family. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got all my sisters with me. We are family.

Speaker 1:

Get up everybody to say Sing it to me, sing it to me, sing it to me. I think that pretty much gives you a feel what this movie's like the energy, just the funness, the music. When you go to a Trolls movie you expect something and you're probably going to get something like that Now coming up. Next we're going to hear from Anna Kendrick, who plays Poppy, and she talks about and this is a really cool interview. I just love hearing her enthusiasm, because I'm kind of shocked that she said it, but she says it in a good, good-natured way because it's probably very, very true. When she gets these calls to do Poppy, she's pretty stoked. But the funny part is when she at the beginning of the interview she's like, yeah, I want to get other stuff, I'm like okay, whatever, I'm not really that excited. It's like oh whoa. But I love that because knowing she loves a character so much, you know she's going to bring enthusiasm. She cares about the role. She's not just there for the paycheck, she truly enjoys it and I think that comes out when she, when she performs this role, you can just hear it in her, everything she does. Or she's such a professional and you can just hear it in everything she does.

Speaker 1:

And then we're going to hear from the director and he talks about now how Poppy and Branch are now official couple boyfriend, girlfriend and he talks about, through this whole series, how the characters have grown and how he listens to the audience, because there's a whole petition out there for certain things to happen, and it's that's what I really love to hear. They know that the people care and they react to it. They don't ignore it and say, nope, this is what we're going to put on blinders and do it our way. The engagement between the filmmaker and the audience is so essential and that's what's really great about today's day and age. They get the feedback instantaneously.

Speaker 1:

Back many, many years ago, before the internet and all that other stuff, people didn't really know it. Directors, writers, they had to hear like through focus groups or what have you, but this day and age they get the instant bam. I want this in a movie. I don't like this in the movie. I mean that must be really great, but also kind of like a oh man. As a filmmaker, I bet you that is a little bit of a Achilles heel, because does that limit you from your storyline that you want to make, or is like oh well, our storyline should be what the people want. I don't know, these people are way out of my head range, but it's fun to just to think about that.

Speaker 1:

And then in that same vein, we're gonna hear from Anna again and she talks about how both her and Branch deal with that now being a couple. They're how they communicate and that cuteness and how it has to grow. But it's just a whole different level and I think most of us out there, if you've been around this world a little bit, you know how it is at certain stages of relationships. You're scared out of your mind, maybe in the beginning, and then maybe you get more easy and things evolve. And that's what she talks about how these characters do evolve. And that's what's really essential for these kind of movies. You don't want to be stagnant, you want them to grow, just like we hope we grow in life.

Speaker 4:

I'm excited to come back as Poppy, because Poppy's kind of my happy place. Like, whenever I get an email saying that I have to do I don't know most things for work, I'm not excited. But if I get an email saying that there's a they want to schedule a new troll session, I get really excited. So it's like this kind of unabashed, joyful, you know, kind of scrappy, punky little character that I get to come in and be ridiculous in.

Speaker 6:

In fact now in Troll's band together, poppy and Branch are officially a couple. They even have their own couple's name hashtag, bropy. It's exciting to take these characters who have you know over the last how many years Like 10 years almost have kind of grown closer over these three films and the two holiday specials. So for Branch really to kind of learn what it means to be in a relationship, I think is an exciting kind of human experience thing that we get to bring to these characters. Plus, there's a huge part of the quarry audience that is such a fan of Poppy and Branch's relationship. There's even a petition online to get these two characters to kiss. It's very, it's very involved the fan bases and we listen to them. So I think they're going to be really excited to see Poppy and Branch's relationship go to that next level.

Speaker 4:

Poppy and Branch are sort of officially a couple and they're kind of learning how to be, you know, a couple, boyfriend, girlfriend and they're in that kind of awkward phase of opening up to one another, which feels really good but can be really scary. And I think it's like this really sweet exploration of like a really complicated human thing through these like adorable tiny creatures.

Speaker 1:

Now you just heard them talking about those two as a couple. After these next couple interviews we're going to have a clip and in that clip it kind of shows you where they are in that relationship, how one person could kind of use certain little buttons to push to make somebody do something that they might not want to do, because after you get to with just somebody for a while, you know how to nudge a conversation to get what you might want them to do or what you want them to do or hope they will do. But first we're going to hear from producer Gina Shea, and she talks a little bit about this and this is something I've always wondered, especially about when it comes to the lead actors. How soon do you get those actors involved in the project? And I think what she says here is very important, because if you just bring the project to them complete, these people might go.

Speaker 1:

I don't feel a character would do this and then it could spiral and cause tension and all kinds of animosity on set. But what's very vital here is they're smart. They bring Anna and Justin in way in the very beginning of production and try to get ideas from them, balance ideas off of them to get their input, because they know that's how you make a good movie. Without their influence and input, you're just willy-nilly, kind of throwing stuff out there. They're the ones who have the energy, they're the ones who have to deliver these lines. So I think that's so brilliant that the filmmakers bring them in and say let's talk about this.

Speaker 1:

And then we're going to hear from Anna and she's going to talk a little bit more about her character and what she does in this film from a wedding planner and how that just creates so much energy and excitement. And then we're going to go to that clip I just told you about earlier, about. Here's the both sitting there talking, both Poppy and Branch. Branch doesn't want to sing with his brother. He's like no, no, no, I'm not going to do this, but Poppy, being that they're in this relationship a while, it's really kind of cute how they get him to go sing with her brother with his brother, I should say and after that it's just a giant song that plays on. So enjoy.

Speaker 9:

We bring Justin and Anna into the process early because they just add so much to their character and to the arc of the story. Really, it's a pleasure to work with them and to pitch ideas back and forth with them, and it just it feels like we get to a better place earlier in the process than we would if we didn't include them in those early discussions and early record sessions.

Speaker 4:

Well, poppy's queen. So she's still queening and she's about to plan a wedding for her best friend, bridget, and there's really nothing more Poppy than planning a wedding. That's probably like an overdrive state for her. So I get really excited for the joy that the joy explosion that is Poppy party planning Branch. Get up there, go sing with your brothers.

Speaker 3:

I'll do it to save Floyd when I have to, but I'm not doing it right now, just for funsies.

Speaker 4:

Oh yeah, okay, you're probably right, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 3:

You're the one who wait. What did you say?

Speaker 4:

No, you're afraid of singing with your brothers again after all these years will overwhelm you with emotions too powerful for you to handle. I agree with you I don't think you can handle it, so I think you shouldn't do it.

Speaker 3:

I think I can handle singing a song Prove it, prove it, prove it. Prove it All right, fine, but this is more than likely beneath me.

Speaker 5:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh, oh, oh, oh oh, You've got the right stuff, baby. You're the reason why I sing this song.

Speaker 3:

You're all I ever wanted. Baby, you're all I ever needed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. So what to do now when I want our YouTube back Doom, doom, da-da, doom, doom, doom da-da, ay-ya-ya-ya-da-da Run song's back? I want to stay in the mouth of whatever you're mumbling. Stay in the mouth, stay in the mouth.

Speaker 3:

Still a city breaking and everybody shaking. People stay in the mouth, Stay in the mouth. I want our songs ready to leave. Stay in the mouth. Stay in the mouth.

Speaker 5:

Doom, doom, doom da-da, doom, doom, doom, da-da, I want you back.

Speaker 3:

I can't believe. I remembered every word in every step.

Speaker 4:

Looks like your band-aids aren't behind you.

Speaker 1:

Now did you just listen to that, the montage of music that they put together the minds of these people to be able to make that work, Because doing that doesn't always play well. I think we've all heard montages with songs put together and they don't always flow. That one just so we ay it flowed, but then the different genres within that song and different songs completely. And at the one of the last ones you heard there I think it was the last one it was the Bee Gees. Come on, how cool is that? Bee Gees are awesome and real.

Speaker 1:

Quick side note on that they are saying that there will be a Bee Gees biography or autobiography movie in the vein of Bohemian Rap City. So fingers crossed on that, guys. If you're unfamiliar with the Bee Gees Insane catalog of music and that's why they put that in here, and also, side side note, If you remember, at the beginning of the show the director talked about Family band members and one of them that he mentioned was the Bee Gees. So it's really cool that he was able to put a Bee Gees song in here.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, I just find that incredibly fascinating. Now coming up next we're gonna hear from Camila Cabello and she plays Viva and she talks about just a complete joy of being invited to do this Family troll movie, because she's done music in the past that dealt with family. And then we're gonna hear from the director, walt Dorn, and he's in a talk about Camila, and then we're gonna go right back to Camila Talking a little bit more about her character and she's gonna be the sister of Poppy. So we're gonna hear from Poppy, played by Anna Kendrick, and she talks about how excited she is to have a sister here the clip later on you'll see how perfectly they cast her to have a sister. They just work perfectly together.

Speaker 1:

But before that clip we're gonna hear from Camila and she talks about how much her in the character are pretty much dialed in and that's just must be really kind of fun too to play a character that's similar to your energy, and then she gets to do that. So after she talks about that, we're gonna have a scene, and in this scene the trolls are walking through this area and there's this giant clown who says who, what are you doing here? And then, hey, we're looking for my brother. But then the his mouth opens up in his boo, this ball shoots out and rolls on in front of him and hey, and it turns out to be Poppy's sister and they start bantering back and forth. She said oh hi, to everybody. It is a really cool way to introduce a character, so you really get to feel for what that character is like.

Speaker 10:

It's so fun to be a part of the trolls family. I mean, I feel like I'm in such great company and I feel like the message behind this movie is so beautiful. It's all about family and you know, obviously I like made a whole album about my family and what that means to me, and so, yeah, I love a lot of like the, the themes that are going into this.

Speaker 6:

Viva is definitely one of the exciting characters, the new characters in this we wanted to fill the movie with. Brand-neutral is like all lead characters, because they're all so rich, these characters, especially Viva. Bringing Camila Cabello into this movie was an extreme treasure. She's so great, she just we were a big fans of hers, and when trying to cast Poppy's sister that was a tall order, but Camila just has that natural electric energy.

Speaker 10:

My character, viva, is Poppy's long-lost sister who she finds in this film. And Viva is the kind of person who will knock on your door at 3 am After a night out. You've already fallen asleep and she's the type to persuade you to get out and be like the night is still young. Let's go, let's find some more adventures. She has that much energy and and life for a hospitality inside her.

Speaker 4:

Poppy loves family and you know other trolls, and so the idea of having a long-lost sister is Super exciting. I mean, poppy finds most things exciting, but this is like next level Amazing and in the way that Poppy does, sometimes I think she thinks there's gonna be zero complications and everything's gonna be great because we're sisters. So how would there ever be any conflicts or problems to have to solve? And it's, you know, always really interesting to see her try to navigate those, you know, more emotionally complicated waters what I love most about playing her is I feel like we're very similar in a lot of ways.

Speaker 10:

Like I feel like she has a lot of energy and she's silly and she just like wants to have a good time and she's just like Kind of quirky and like can be really loud, which is Similar to me. Like I, if I'm like feeling really great and happy, I could just yell.

Speaker 5:

Who dares trespass on me sacred grounds? Oh, that's what are you doing.

Speaker 3:

Listen, we don't want any clown related trouble. Okay, we're just here looking for our brother clay.

Speaker 5:

Wait a second, your trolls so what?

Speaker 3:

you're a clown, oh.

Speaker 10:

My gosh. My name is Vila. It is so fantastic, amazing to see other trolls so fantastic. Amazing is my own personal word. It means fantastic and amazing. I used to say a mastic, but then I was like, mmm, that's not as good fantastic, awesome. That's different, but that works too. Wait to make it your own. Is this so?

Speaker 4:

people feel when they meet me.

Speaker 10:

Yes, I'm having a lot. Sometimes I can be a lot.

Speaker 3:

I'm not sure we're in the right place Of course you're in the right place.

Speaker 10:

Any troll is welcome here with us. Okay, pop-pop trolls, lights up for our new friends. Oh my gosh, are you this hungry? Are you thirsty? Yes, fries, fries. You guys want fries. I am seeing fries bring out the works milkshakes to celebrate. That's better. Now I finally have some energy. Did you just braid my hair? You're welcome. It looks so good.

Speaker 1:

Now, another thing that we haven't talked a lot about in this episode so far is the incredible impact of Justin Timberlake in this film. And let's just get this abundantly clear. That guy is so talented, he could sing, he could dance, he could act and this is just a really quick. This from a Selfish perspective. For me, way back in a day, you know that boy band wasn't really my jam and I'm like, okay, whatever, just another kid or young actor or young singer wanted to become an actor the first time he was on SNL. I'm like, okay, everybody deserves a shot. So I said I'm gonna watch his episode on Saturday Night Live and I just sat there my jaw dropped. I'm like this guy's brilliant. His control, he knew his lines. He wasn't reading it like a lot of other guests do. If you watch SNL, as long as most of us have, you can just tell her to reading the, the cue card from over guy's shoulder or in the background. Now, with Timberlake, the guy nailed it, he owned it, he was there, he was present and from that point on he might not have played my music that were not my music, but it's stuff that I was really into it at any given time but he proved his Mustard. Is that a right word? Is that the right saying? Whatever he did, he proved himself as a true entertainer, a guy who could do it all. And I, into this day, I have the highest respect for the guy, no matter what he does, because he is so the owns it. He jumps in. I don't know, I could go on and on, but the guy has talent from acting, the movies, comedy, what have you.

Speaker 1:

So because of all that, what I'm rambling about we're gonna hear several people talk about him. First we're gonna hear from Gina Shay, the producer, co-director Tim Hertz, and also the other co-director, walt Dorn, and they all just sing the praises of Justin Timberlake. The guy is a beast, he knows what he's doing. I tip my cap to the guy. And at the end of the interview with the co-director Dorn he talks about how Justin brings in kind of history of all boy bands within the songs and everything that they perform in this movie. And then we're gonna have a clip and in this clip the brothers are playing the, performing, everybody's excited, people are passing out in the audience and then, while they're performing, there's like a vine or something in the air with their spinning around in, and then a baby one Somehow trips and then falls on the vine and they all get tangled up and get zipped, zipped up to the air and they come out all this. We're having some problems here. They go well, at least we didn't fall.

Speaker 1:

Then you hear this and they land on the floor and then they cut to a scene where the all the brothers are there, they're arguing, they're fighting, and then they just break up and they just build, they go out the window and all that jazz. And you wonder in some aspect I wonder how Close that plays into any other arguments that the bands have had in the past. We'll say we'll put in this little argument here and they just hyper, do it to. You know, show a band breaking up. But you always wonder what moment? What is it? What does that final straw on a band members perspective that says I'm out, and obviously this didn't have anybody's real life, but it's just fun to see. So that's what's coming up next.

Speaker 10:

Trolls. That band together has got more action, more characters, more music than any of the other trolls. They've got some new locations, which I've I've already seen little glimpses of, which are so cool and exciting, and also, I think it's gonna be like have an emotional, more emotional depth than even the other ones, and I love, love me, some emotions.

Speaker 9:

I'm so thrilled that Justin was able to dig deep into his past and to bring comedy, the music Boy band, sound from different eras and the attitude as the, as well as the vibe of what it would be like to be traveling around with a boy band that was trying to get back together.

Speaker 7:

Justin goes in 110%. You know he from the, from the get-go. I think he got very excited about the, the direction of the story, and I think you know he loves to to showcase different eras of music, his different influences, and he brings all of that to the table when we are talking about what songs go where. And you know, even when he's creating originals for the movie he's pulling from these different influences. So you'll have an original at the beginning that sort of harkens back to a late 80s, early 90s kind of vibe and then you know, fast forward to the end of the movie and it's got a much more modern, contemporary sensibility. So he, he, just he pulls out all the stops and you know he brings it. It's, it's awesome.

Speaker 6:

Justin has always been such a great partner in all the films and this one. We really got to involve him pretty early and pitch him this story before we had anything. We said here's the concept and he just immediately embraced it. You know, I think there's a level of nostalgia now for the 90s boy band stuff and and with Justin he celebrates that part of his past. But he also knows how to make fun of it. So it's it's a very healthy and fun thing and I think Justin was ready to explore that. So we had the best Consultant. I think you can get on boy band history on this.

Speaker 3:

Let's do this no more talking.

Speaker 8:

Did anybody notice the energy?

Speaker 3:

Flex, but I might.

Speaker 5:

About the tape I cuz the net is young and the music song and we got a love on site.

Speaker 2:

Thanks, oh yes, come on, guys, what's he doing?

Speaker 3:

This isn't my choreo.

Speaker 5:

Ladies and gentlemen, please stand by. We're experiencing some stuff. Hey, at least we didn't fall, we fell. See what happens when you don't follow my lead. Dude, that is exactly what happens when we follow your-. I don't need this.

Speaker 2:

I'm out, I'm done. I'm sorry, I'm gonna go hike the Neverglade trail by myself, bro alone. Yeah, that's right, bro. Bro going solo, yolo, goodbye forever, fine, I'm out of here.

Speaker 8:

Same here, guys. Please come on.

Speaker 9:

It's my fault. I ruined everything.

Speaker 8:

No, no, branch, this is not your fault. We're not in sync. We've gone from boys to men and now there's only one direction for us to go the back streets.

Speaker 1:

You've just that line alone. I don't know why that cracks me up, but it was just so well done, naming all the bands and all that stuff. It amused me. Now, seeing this kind of movie in the theater is kind of one of those things that really amplifies the experience, because so many of us and I'm just as guilty as everybody else out there we sometimes wait for a movie to just come out on demand so we could watch it at home in our own comfort. Coming up next we're gonna hear from both directors, walt Dorn and Tim Heights, I think early in the show. I mispronounced Tim Heights' name, if I'm saying it right now, but they both talk about that.

Speaker 1:

This is the kind of movie where you're in the crowd, you're singing, you're dancing. It's an experience you share with everybody around you, kind of like when you go to a concert. A-la, recently, with the release of Taylor Swift's movie, people are singing and dancing in the aisles. Similar kind of feel that's happening in this kind of movie, where people are just letting loose and having fun, and then we're gonna have a clip for ya, and in this clip the band is performing a song the Hustle. Now this song goes back. It is to so many of us out there. It gives you the warm, warm feeling, cozy feeling, because it just has a 70s feel and you're like ah man, it just feels warm and reminiscent. But here's a little background on that one. If you wanna find out who really sung it or listened to it, I should say Gold, dig deep.

Speaker 1:

Van McCoy in the Soul City Symphony. It's from the 1975 disco album, disco Baby. But even beyond that, van McCoy, songwriter, producer, his list of who he's worked with I could go on and on, just on this show talking about that. But Van McCoy is just, he was just phenomenal. Just look at all he did. It's just, sometimes people like that don't get enough appreciation. You just think of oh, the Hustle is just a fun, whatever song, but he's done so much more than that. But that song alone will just live forever. It's just one of those songs that's immortal. So give him a shout, give him a look. If I should say Van McCoy, the Hustle and all the other stuff he's done, but that's what's in that clip that's coming up later Check it out.

Speaker 6:

This movie is a party in so many ways. The music again, I think. Listening to the music we've seen in troll movies in the past, even and especially with this one, when you play it in the theater, people get up in the aisle and they're dancing. You know. They get out of their seats and dance. It's true, I definitely sing and dance when I'm watching the movie.

Speaker 7:

Going to see a movie especially a movie like this, with a group of strangers is the only way to do it, Because there's an energy that comes from it and I think when the music is playing, you know, I think people will be dancing, Like maybe singing along, and it's really an experience that you know that you can't get anywhere else than to be in a big room with amazing sound and a huge screen and a bunch of people around you. I think that that energy is so important to the viewing experience of something like this.

Speaker 2:

Hey Tiny, you see that button Uh yeah, yeah, that beautiful shiny button.

Speaker 5:

Oh, you mean the button that is taking every fiber of my being not depressed? Yeah, I see it.

Speaker 2:

Press it.

Speaker 5:

Oh, heck, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Wow, too much hustle is a thing. Huh, look at that, and you may or may not be aware, the original song doesn't sound really very much like that at all.

Speaker 1:

But that shows you the creativity of Timberlake and everybody involved in this film. They can still keep that soul and heart of the song but make it different and original, and I just think that's kind of cool Now coming up guys here's. Here's been my battle, or my contemplation. Or should I play this part of the show? Because what I love about doing this show is the B-roll, the on-the-set stuff. This isn't necessarily that this is in the studio, and I love hearing these things about seeing them playing with different dialogue. They're in the studio just trying different variations. So that's what I'm gonna do.

Speaker 1:

Next I'm gonna have several of those in the studio bits. So this is what's gonna happen. We're gonna have one after the other. I'm not gonna introduce them one after the other, I'm just gonna have them play through. We're gonna have Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, David Diggs, Kid Cuddy, Eric Andre, Keenan Thompson, Troy Savon, Camila Cabello, Christopher Mince and Zoe Dashanel. I just love hearing those stuff and if I'm out of line, if you don't think so, my mistake, but here it is for you anyway, those people in the studio.

Speaker 3:

Okay, what are you doing?

Speaker 6:

This is your second chance with your brother's branch.

Speaker 3:

It's not that easy. Okay, you don't get it. You don't have any siblings, all right, listen, if there was a brother that I might do this for and I'm not saying there is, but it would it would be Floyd. Operation Family Harmy is on and popping. Help us, rhonda, she's got the scent. Now you listen. We don't want any clown related trouble. Okay, we're just here looking for our brother clay. Yeah, so what? You're a clown.

Speaker 4:

So you came here to get the band back together and sing the perfect family harmony Brosome 2.0. Ah, bros on reunion. Bros on, here we bro again. Bros on, where'd they, bro? I don't know. We're gonna find them. Have an awesome honeymoon. I love you guys. Branch, this is your second chance to connect with your brothers. Do you know what I would give to have a sister? We'd be best friends and we teach each other things and we'd never fight because we'd always have each other's backs and we wouldn't even have to talk because we think all the same thoughts. And everybody would ask us if we were twins and we'd laugh and we'd be like hold on technically.

Speaker 4:

But Bye, everybody, we're getting the band back together. Puffy jackets, puka shell necklaces, denim tuxedos. Did you have frosted tips? Oh, no way, pixar, it didn't happen. Branch, look at you, you are so cute, I love it.

Speaker 5:

What? Whoa then? What are we waiting for? You know what I'm done playing the heartthrob, my exquisitely chiseled, rock hard abs and I quit. Oh no, I knew this would happen one day. Listen, I know you recognize me from Brozone and I'm happy to give you an autograph or whatever, but can you please just be discreet about it. Oh, I was in a band. I was in the band. You asked your mother if I was in a band. Look who's talking. Is that a sweater romper, fine rusty robot into wiggle worm in? Don't Kelly and tape up it. It's just that fun. Boy clay is dead serious. Boy clay only does the world oiled robot, and it is no. Oh, I'd also like to volunteer to keep track of our expenses, please. Maybe just so we can stay on top. Stay sharp, oh.

Speaker 2:

Come on, clay their funder drawers. It's underwear, but 76% more fun. Now let's see those dance moves. Brother, of course, I'm stress Floyd. It's the first show of the tour. We have to hit the perfect family harmony. You owe it to the fans. Baby branches nervous, no, no, no, no, no. He's not allowed to be nervous, he's got to be perfect, okay great it's working.

Speaker 5:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

All right guys follow my lead.

Speaker 5:

Hey tiny, you see that button, that button right there.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, that button right there. That beautiful, shiny button, glorious listening button. Give a thing about precedent, go ahead. Hey, I'm John Dory branches, long lost brother.

Speaker 5:

Well, I feel judged. Oh, this is too much. I only have my learners permit, give me that thing, what thing?

Speaker 6:

You know? The thing, the thing, thing, tiny shrugs. Come on, tiny, don't do me like that.

Speaker 5:

Yeah, I knew what you was talking about.

Speaker 8:

Branch. We're out of sync. We've gone from boys to men and now there's only one direction for us to go the back streets. This is a trap. Velvet and veneer they do. They lured you here. You have to leave before they come back. Hurry oh my gosh.

Speaker 10:

My name is Viva. It is so Fantastic, amazing, to see other two rolls. I've thought so many times about leaving. You know to look for you and dad, but it's not safe out there. I'm Viva, I'm your sister. Yeah, I know, right, I'm kind of freaking out a little bit. Viva la Viva, baby. Oh.

Speaker 2:

Boy, those are crazy bachelor party like a beautiful angel sent from a heaven Cool.

Speaker 8:

Guys, if you don't mind, I really cannot wait another minute to marry this gorgeous specimen. Whoa, it is a night of surprises. Wow, chrissy, I've never seen anybody get kicked out of a water park like that. Do you smell French fries? Do you smell French fries? Oh, chrissy, this is the most romantic honey but I've ever been on ever.

Speaker 1:

I just try to keep this my little movie, oasis. I'm not here to sit and complain, yell, criticize movies that's not what we do here. To send my judge on the judge, you're the jury. You make up your own mind, because any movie is somebody's favorite movie, because we all want to spend our hard-earned money wisely, because we all want the same thing an enjoyable movie Experience. So I really hope you enjoyed our in-depth look at Troll's band together.

Speaker 1:

But coming up next, this is one of my favorite parts of the show. This is where I give a shout out to all of you who well, not all of you, but a lot of you who listened to the last episode, because it just makes my day. So if you want to have a shout out for you, either listen to it on one of the platforms or, if you're on YouTube, just say, hey, I'm from roughly this area. You don't have to say exactly where you're from, but you just say, hey, give me a shout out from wherever it is. So, wherever, whenever or whatever you're doing, this is for you.

Speaker 1:

All my listeners from the United States, germany, again Germany. You guys just keep listening and sharing. I really appreciate that. Keep sharing, keep listening. I truly love it. Speaker 1:

Same thing with Minneapolis, minnesota, north Rhine, westphalia. Did I say that, right, guys? Again, thanks for listening. Thanks for sharing. Concord, north Carolina, st Petersburg, st Petersburg Is it Binan? Providence of Laguna? Now I'm going to spell this bad boy out G-A-P-Y-E-O-N-G County, g-y-e-o-n-g-g-i-d-o. Hey, thanks for listening, man. I really appreciate that.

Speaker 1:

Cintra, lisbon, frankfurt, am Main, hesse, you guys, every time Awesome. Dublin, is it Lester? But Dublin? Thank you so much. Uly, florida, panama City, florida, san Diego, california, stillwater, minnesota, valencia, california, prior Lake, minnesota, st Cloud, minnesota, trenton, new Jersey, pittsburgh, pennsylvania, san Francisco, california, just to name a few. I truly thank you guys for taking time out of your busy life to listen. It makes my day. I know I'm redundant, but I don't care. Now, lake, at the beginning of this show they mentioned some bands that family sings together and if you aren't aware, but I'm going to tell you anyway. But if you do know, when I'm making the TV version of this I'm cranking music, I'm having a time of my life, so, without even knowing it, that they were going to mention this that they're talking about family members singing, for whatever reason.

Speaker 1:

I was in a BG's mood before I started adding thisle. I got everything ready and I put on the ultimate BG's. It's a double CD thing or a double album, whatever you want to call it these days, and I just love that whole album, every song, just perfect, perfect, perfect, perfect. I was in a great mood. I had a different location when I was editing this time, but I was sitting in the living room tunes cranking because I recently had my hip replaced so I couldn't really travel downstairs. So I had this stuff moved up to my area and I was editing it there and I was just cranking the BG's, living it up. So when I heard that part of the interview like oh yeah, bands like the BG's, I'm like yes, I was dialed in properly. And I just remember texting a couple of friends of mine going oh man, I'm just having a great time, I'm just listening to the BG's editing the show and I think I unmute. In the background I had the All Mart channel playing just mindless shows, but I was in my happy place cranking the BG's. So that's what I was listening to when I was editing the TV version, which becomes this, the podcast and this week's Bourbon Showed Out, goes out to Sandy, the target pharmacy crew.

Speaker 1:

Sandy, I love coming in there and talking movies with you guys. It makes my week. So every time I go in there and I see Sandy and the whole crew. You guys are awesome. I so like talking to you guys. So to you, sandy cheers. Well, that is it. My glass awaits. I'm thirsty. So cheers to you and to the movies. So until next time, be well, be good and I'm gone. I'm Jeff. Thanks for listening to the Cinema Judge. Hello and welcome to the cinema.
